Will your money last until payday?

How to use

Want to look around first? Choose Try an example to load a plan with fictional numbers, then Start my own plan when you're ready. The page starts empty, and results appear once every required field is filled in correctly.

  1. Choose the planning period. Usually your payday through the day before your next payday. Both dates are included.
  2. Enter your starting available balance: the money you have on the start date, before any income or bills listed in the plan.
  3. Don't count the same paycheck twice. If the paycheck is dated before the start date, it is already in your balance and is not added again. If it is dated within the period, it is added from the Paycheck section — so leave it out of the starting balance.
  4. Enter your take-home pay and payday. Take-home pay is what you actually receive after taxes and other deductions; the app does not calculate taxes. This version handles one paycheck per period.
  5. Add unpaid bills with due dates. Overdue bills are subtracted once at the start; bills due after the period are listed but not counted.
  6. Add planned spending (like groceries or gas) as totals for the period, and set a protected buffer — money you want to keep untouched.

Fictional example (the plan that Try an example loads): Alex has $412.37 on Oct 16 and is paid $1,850.00 that same day. Alex's unpaid bills due by the end of the period total $1,395.55 (one is overdue), with $350.00 of planned spending and a $200.00 buffer. The result is $316.82 unallocated after listed expenses.

Understanding your results

  • Unallocated after listed expenses is what is left after your listed bills, planned spending, and protected buffer. The buffer has already been subtracted. A negative number means those add up to more than this plan's money — it can mean your buffer isn't fully kept, not necessarily that your account goes below $0.00.
  • Payday gap checks timing. It steps through your starting balance, bills, and paycheck in date order and shows the lowest scheduled balance, plus any dip below $0.00 or below your buffer.
  • For this estimate, bills are counted before income on the same day. Your bank's actual processing order may differ.
  • The payday gap does not include planned spending, because it has no dates. Seeing no gap does not mean your whole plan is covered, and your bank's timing may differ.
  • Estimated overtime is optional: enter the extra take-home amount, after taxes and deductions. When you turn it on, a separate result appears; the base result never changes. Overtime is assumed to arrive with your paycheck, so it cannot fix a shortfall that happens before payday. It is an estimate, not guaranteed income.

Fictional example: in Alex's plan, the lowest scheduled balance is $347.37 on Oct 16, after the overdue phone bill and before the paycheck. That stays above the $200.00 buffer, so no payday gap is shown.

Privacy and limitations

  • The numbers you enter stay in this browser tab's memory. They are not saved and are not sent to us or anyone else. Refreshing or closing the page discards your plan and returns to an empty form. Your Light/Dark/System choice is not saved either.
  • Loading the page makes ordinary requests to the website host for the app's files. The host may keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and browser type. Those requests don't include what you enter. The app has no ads, analytics, or tracking scripts.
  • Send feedback opens a separate Google Form in a new tab. Nothing from your plan is sent with it. Anything you type into the form goes to Google Forms under Google's terms, so please don't include financial details.
  • This is a planning aid, not financial advice. No taxes are calculated.
  • It handles one paycheck per period and does not connect to your bank. Pending transactions, deposit holds, and your bank's processing order can change real balances.
  • Amounts can have at most two decimal places. Write cents as 0.50, not .50. Results appear only when every field is valid.

Step 1: Planning period

Both the start and end dates are included.

Step 2: Starting available balance

Money available on the start date, before any income or bills listed below.

e.g. 1,234.56 or $1,234.56. Use -$50.00 if overdrawn.

How do I count a paycheck I've already received?
  • Paycheck dated before the start date? Its effect is already reflected in your starting balance, so it will not be added again.
  • Paycheck dated within this planning period, including the start and end dates? It is added from the Paycheck section, so do not also include it in your starting balance.
  • Paycheck dated after the end date? It is not counted in this plan.

Step 3: Paycheck

This version supports one paycheck per planning period.

What you expect to actually receive, after taxes and other deductions — not your gross pay. e.g. 1,234.56 or $1,234.56.

Extra money you expect to receive from overtime, after taxes and deductions. It is never included in the base result. Leave blank for none. e.g. 1,234.56 or $1,234.56.

The base result stays the same either way.

Step 4: Unpaid bills

Bills due before the start date are overdue and deducted once at the start. Bills due after the end date are listed but not counted.

No bills listed.

Step 5: Planned spending

Totals for this period, such as groceries or gas. These have no dates, so they are not part of the timeline check.

No planned spending listed.

Step 6: Protected cash buffer

Money you want to keep untouched. It is subtracted from the result. Enter 0 if none. e.g. 1,234.56 or $1,234.56.
